What can I see in one day in Amritsar?
The Golden Temple first, before the crowds build, then Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum in the same square kilometre of the old city. Durgiana Temple and Gobindgarh Fort fill the afternoon, and Wagah Border is the evening.
If you only have a day in the city, this is the loop that shows you most of it without ever queuing for a shared coach.
Is a taxi better than a bus tour in Amritsar?
A taxi is on your schedule. If the Golden Temple holds you longer, or you want a second helping of langar, the car waits — no fixed departure time and no group to keep up with.
For two to four people the day rate is usually comparable to coach seats, and it drops you at each entrance rather than at a bus stand several streets away.
Can I see Amritsar in half a day?
Yes, if you pick a half. The morning circuit — Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum — fits into four hours comfortably, and the shrine of Durgiana Temple is a short addition.
The evening half is Wagah Border: leave by 2:30 pm in winter or 3:30 pm in summer and you are back in the city for dinner.
How much walking is involved in the city tour?
More than driving, in honesty. The Golden Temple needs a walk around the sarovar and the Heritage Street area is pedestrian, and Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum are both walking visits.
The car drops you at the nearest access point to each stop. If you are travelling with elderly parents or very small children, tell us and we plan the order so the longest walk comes when it is coolest.
Can you help with tickets or a guide?
Entry to the Golden Temple is free and open at all hours. Museum and fort tickets are bought at the gate, and their cost is not part of the taxi fare.
We do not provide licensed guides, but our drivers know the city, the timings and the best order to see things, and they will tell you what is worth your time. Ask them.
Questions we get about this
What does a full-day Amritsar sightseeing taxi cost?
From Rs 1,400 for 8 hours and 80 km in a Swift Dzire, Rs 1,500 for an Etios, Rs 1,600 for an Ertiga, Rs 2,000 for an Innova and Rs 2,500 for an Innova Crysta. Beyond the slab, extra km and hours are charged at the listed rates.
Are toll, fuel, parking and state tax included?
It depends on the trip. Your WhatsApp quote states exactly what is included and what is payable separately, so there is no surprise at the end of the journey.
Is the Golden Temple open all night?
Yes, the Golden Temple is open around the clock and is beautiful after dark. Many guests do the temple in the evening for exactly that reason, and keep the day for the rest.
Can we include the Gobindgarh Fort sound and light show?
Yes, if the show is running on your date. Tell us your date and we will plan the day around the show timings and confirm them with you before the trip.
Do you provide a car for a group of eight or more?
Yes. For groups we book an Innova Crysta or a Tempo Traveller, which seats twelve, so everyone travels together with the luggage in one vehicle.
